Courses Available from the Graduate School of the Environment
All courses at the Graduate School of the Environment (GSE) examine environmental issues, energy and buildings.  To help meet varying interests and career aspirations GSE offer three unique angles of approach.

  • All programmes offer the opportunity to work in a sector of increasing importance with high demand for skilled individuals.
  • The Graduate school is a recognised RIBA CPD provider and its courses are accredited by the Energy Institute; the Msc’s are degrees of the University of East London. 
  • The post graduate courses allow participants to gain advanced knowledge of the sector as part of their career development or to facilitate a career change.

Professional Diploma in Architecture with Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies

Professional Diploma in Architecture with Advanced Environmental and Energy StudiesThe Centre for Alternative Technology and the University of East London's joint programme entitled Professional Diploma in Architecture: Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies has been prescribed by the Architects Registration Board (ARB), subject to periodic review, for the purposes of entry onto the United Kingdom Register of Architects. The prescription of this qualification will be due for renewal by September 2010 as part of the initial two yearly review-cycle.

Doctor of Ecological Building Practices (D.EBP)

This doctoral research degree offers the opportunity to explore and develop practice in relation to environmental issues and is open to those working in the built environment professions of architecture, building and construction, planning, development, engineering, product, industrial and manufacturing design, and others whose work can or could relate specifically to an ecological or sustainable built environment. CAT Short Courses

In addition to our postgraduate courses, the Centre for Alternative Technology offers a variety of short residential courses covering a range of sustainability issues. Courses on renewable energy, environmentally friendly building techniques, and water and sanitation solutions can help you learn more about sustainable ways of living, and allow you to put your ideas into practice.  Further course details
